You've surprised even me. I'm glad I sacrificed a piece of cheesecake to retrieve this from a friend's house that I had left it at. Now I want the third book. Nov 29, Danny rated it really liked it Shelves: arc , bea11 , signed. And there she was signing Original Sin. I was thrilled, which is why this one is one of the first books I read from my BEA pile In Original Sin Frannie and Luc have to deal their new situation.
Luc being mortal, Frannie is tagged for Heaven and tries to use her special gift "sway". Espeically since I was sure I'd love him, but I didn't He always tried to do the best for Frannie but always went way above this and made things worse. In the end.. I understand, but while reading I was angry! So much passion and deep love. Where normal YA novel stop with kissing, Original Sin goes further and teases you a lot with very steamy scenes.
It's awesome how Lisa manages to stay YA suitable but always expands the borders a little bit more. I love this. I had so many emotions while reading this book. Frustration, Anger, Fear, love and so much heartbreak. And yes tears were involved There were many twists, turns and surprises that kept me reading it faster and faster!
I loved it and can't wait for the next one. If you are looking for a YA book that explores the borders of what YA can take, go for Personal Demons and start reading. Jun 16, Karen rated it did not like it. I didn't enjoy the first book from this series - Personal Demons - but for some reason I was still interested to see where the author took the characters so I decided to give this book a shot.
A lot of the cheese factor and "smells" are gone from this book which helped. I could never tell if I was supposed to be taking what the characters said seriously in PD or if it was "wink My problem is with Frannie. She loves Luc. Luc loves her. Their relat I didn't enjoy the first book from this series - Personal Demons - but for some reason I was still interested to see where the author took the characters so I decided to give this book a shot.
Their relationship really progresses in this book but only because Gabe isn't around most of the time. Once he shows up on any number of occasions she's all over him.

I get the attraction to him. He's beautiful, he calms her but I just can't wrap my brain around Frannie declaring her undying love for Luc in one paragraph then practically crawling all over Gabe in the next. Maybe if she hadn't decided on Luc I would be able to go along with this better. Or if there was a clearer explanation for her draw to Gabe.
There are a few twists but few revelations when it comes to the BIG things so for me this book felt pretty much the same as the first. I think it's time for me to admit that it's just not right for me and move on.

Apr 06, Andrea rated it liked it. And I'm a little conflicted with my feelings about the book. Like in the first book, I got tired of the whole love triangle. I usually like love triangles, I do. But this one took it too far. It's almost like Frannie is in a relationship with two guys and that just bothers me.
You can't keep running back and forth from one guy to another, with both guys being okay with it for t 3. You can't keep running back and forth from one guy to another, with both guys being okay with it for the most part. But I did like the plot. It was fast paced with lots of action and story. And I really like the characters by themselves, not in the love triangle : Frannie is such a kick-butt girl. I love that she can stand up for herself! And the two guys are pretty great too. I would choose Luc though.

There's something a little off about Gabe to me. He's a little too cold and kinda controlling in a way. I dunno. Anyways, the book leaves off on a definite cliffhanger and it will be interesting to see what happens next! Who will Frannie end up with? Will Hell takeover Frannie in this book? Or will Heaven keep her? Or even better, she turns un-tagged again? Lisa Desrocher, I beg you, release this book earlier. Please, for the sake of my sanity.
Jul 17, Vania rated it really liked it. Bigger, better and oh so much fun!

Did you think Personal Demons was dark, sexy and dangerous? Add hell into the mix and you have a burning roller-coaster of emotions! One you so want to hop onto! Mar 07, Carrie added it. Oh Gabe, how I love thee. Let me count the ways. Nah, I can't count that high. Such a crazy-sexy book. Nov 24, Rachel rated it it was amazing Shelves: arc. But with Heaven standing in their way, they will have to pull out all the stops to tag his soul once again. And that means going after the only person that Luc cares about. Whatever it takes. In this second book in the series the story is even more gripping, with a new character that will keep readers on edge, the intensity is elevated to a whole new level, and the ending is an exquisite torture.
Even though Frannie loves Luc, enough to have saved him from Hell to keep him with her, she is still torn. She still loves Gabe. She still needs the peace he offers, his comfort and his protection. But even Gabe knows that she should be with Luc. As much as that thought tears him up inside, he knows that as a Dominion he and Frannie can never be. And so he chooses someone to be her Guardian. Someone he knows cares about Frannie and will make sure to protect her just as he would.
But Gabe never expected King Lucifer to send the most prized weapon in his arsenal. And he never knew just how wrong things would go or he would have stayed, no matter the risk to himself.
Because being claimed by Hell would have been far less great a price to pay than the one that was exacted. Lisa Desrochers has absolutely done it again.
Original Sin is even more intense, more provocative and more electrifying than Personal Demons.
